The Nuclear Power Corporation of India aka NPCIL has long been doodling with the idea of starting an atomic power plant. They have finally submitted their crucial report to the Ministry of Environment and Forest to secure permission to this effect. They intend to put up this plant in Srikakulam district – Kovvada which lies in Ranasthalam mandal to be precise.
The ministers will go through the whole report in detail and check all the terms and references included before they finally give a thumbs up to the project.
NPCIL has conducted an extensive study to create this report. The study known as Environmental Impact Assessment helped them to understand what the effect of the intended effect on the environs would be and the impact that the radiation may have on the people, plants and animals in Kovvada. It is believed that the company took more than a year to complete the research and come up with the report.
It is true that the atomic power plant will be owned by the Central Government. However, the consent of the MoEF is necessary to get supply reactors which are supplied by Westinghouse, a company based in USA.
